Grant decisions are made based upon Board action. If a request for funding is approved, Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Legacy will notify the applicant via a Grant Award Letter. Returning the executed copy of the Grant Award Letter to Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Legacy constitutes an agreement to the terms and conditions of the grant.
Grant funds, as well as any interest earned thereon, may not be expended for any purpose(s) other than stated in the Grant Award Letter without the prior written approval of Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Legacy.
Any funds not expended or committed for the approved purpose(s) must be returned to Sisters of Mercy of North Legacy within thirty days following the due date of a grant’s Final Evaluation Report.
Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Legacy expects that grant funds will begin to be expensed not later than six months following the date of funds being awarded. Exceptions to this policy require the written approval of Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Legacy, or may require that grant funds be returned.
It is our understanding that any information contained in a Grant Application and its accompanying attachments is substantially correct. Any material changes during a particular grant term must be promptly reported in writing.
Organizations receiving grants will be required to submit annual written reports to Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Legacy regarding the use of grant funds. Depending on circumstances more frequent reporting may be required. Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Legacy reserves the right at its sole discretion to require additional reports or information it deems necessary.
Judgments made as a result of the grant evaluation process, specifically the use of grant funds for the approved purpose(s) of a grant and/or a grantee’s progress on a project or program, are solely the decision of Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Legacy. Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Legacy retains the right to request that grant funds be returned if: 1.) a grantee fails to complete the final evaluation report when due, 2.) grant funds have been used for a purpose(s) other than what was approved in this Grant Award Letter, and/or 3.) there has been a substantial lack of progress on the grantee’s project or program.
Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Legacy must approve all publicity releases to the media regarding this grant award. Use of Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Legacy’s name and this grant award in any public document, such as an annual report, requires prior approval.
Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Legacy may amend these terms at any time without written notice to applicants or grantees.
