Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Legacy Announces $816,072 in Grants to 18 Organizations
The following grants were recently awarded by Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Legacy to effective education, health care and social service organizations that serve the economically poor with dignity and compassion, to extend the outreach of the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas in the service areas of Sisters of Mercy’s former North Carolina hospitals.
Children First/Communities in Schools of Buncombe County, Inc., Asheville, NC was awarded $50,000 to provide general operating support.
Children's Advocacy Center of Catawba County, Conover, NC was awarded $25,000 to provide operating support, specifically, a portion of the salary of a family advocate.
Cleveland County Community Development Corporation, Shelby, NC was awarded $40,000 for the salary and benefits of a housing counselor.
Communities in Schools of Cleveland County, Shelby, NC was awarded $36,000 to support the salary and benefits of site coordinators.
Community Housing Coalition of Madison County, Marshall, NC was awarded $45,000 to provide general operating support.
Community Link, Charlotte, NC was awarded $50,000 to provide general operating support.
Family Care Center of Catawba Valley, Inc., Hickory, NC was awarded $35,000 to provide operating support, specifically, the salary of a social worker.
Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry, Hickory, NC was awarded $40,000 to provide salary and benefit support for a bilingual community healthcare worker.
Helping Hands Clinic of Caldwell County, Lenoir, NC was awarded $50,000 to provide general operating support.
Helpmate, Inc., Asheville, NC was awarded $75,000 to provide general operating support.
International Friendship Center, Highlands, NC was awarded $40,000 to provide general operating support.
The Learning Collaborative, Charlotte, NC was awarded $45,000 to provide salary and benefits support for preschool teachers and a family social worker.
Our VOICE, Asheville, NC was awarded $53,072 to provide general operating support.
Shelter Health Services, Inc., Charlotte, NC was awarded $55,000 to provide operating support, primarily for clinical staff salaries.
Supportive Housing Communities, Charlotte, NC was awarded $52,000 to provide salary support, including for the housing and property management team.
Union County Community Shelter, Monroe, NC was awarded $45,000 for the salary and benefits of a case manager.
Union County Crisis Assistance Ministry, Monroe, NC was awarded $30,000for the salary and benefits of a case manager.
Vecinos Farmworker Health Program, Cullowhee, NC was awarded $50,000 to provide general operating support.
Since 1996, Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Legacy has awarded 2,394 grants totaling more than $107,297,794 to organizations assisting unserved or underserved populations in the areas of education, health care and social services.
