July 15, 2023 - Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Legacy Announces $1,140,000 in Grants to 24 Organizations

Education

Boys & Girls Clubs of Henderson County, Hendersonville, NC was awarded $50,000 to provide operating support contributing to salaries and benefits of academic and member services team members.

Children First/Communities in Schools of Buncombe County, Inc., Asheville, NC was awarded $50,000 to support the salaries and benefits of a Student Support Specialist and a Student Support Specialist Manager.

Children of the World Learning Center, Charlotte, NC was awarded $25,000 to provide salary support for preschool teachers.

Dream Center Academy Inc., Gastonia, NC was awarded $30,000 to provide salary support for the high school program director.

Literacy Together, Asheville, NC was awarded $30,000 to support the Youth Literacy Program, specifically, program staff and tutor stipends.

ourBRIDGE, Inc., Charlotte, NC was awarded $30,000 to provide operating support contributing to transportation and food costs.

The Learning Collaborative, Charlotte, NC was awarded $45,000  to contribute to the salary and benefits of teachers and parent support personnel.

YWCA of the Central Carolinas, Inc., Charlotte, NC was awarded $55,000 to provide salary and benefits support for YWCA's Youth Literacy Program.

 

Health Care

Florence Crittenton Services, Charlotte, NC was awarded $50,000 to provide salary support for maternity care services staff.

Shelter Health Services, Inc., Charlotte, NC was awarded $55,000 to provide operating support, primarily salaries.

Vecinos Farmworker Health Program, Cullowhee, NC was awarded $50,000 to support the salaries of nursing staff.

 

Social Services

Cleveland County Community Development Corporation, Shelby, NC was awarded $40,000 to provide salary support for 1 FTE housing counselor.

Community Housing Coalition of Madison County, Marshall, NC was awarded $45,000 to provide operating support contributing to the salaries of the Client Services Manager, Home Repair Manager, and Volunteer Manager.

Community Link, Charlotte, NC was awarded $65,000 to provide operating support for Homeless to Housing Services in Mecklenburg and Union Counties.

Crisis Assistance Ministry, Charlotte, NC was awarded $65,000 to provide operating support.

Family Care Center of Catawba Valley, Inc., Hickory, NC was awarded $35,000 to support the salary of the Family Services Social Worker.

Helpmate, Inc., Asheville, NC was awarded $75,000 to provide operating support contributing to the salaries and benefits of counseling and case management staff.

International House of Metrolina, Charlotte, NC was awarded $55,000 to provide operating support for personnel of the Immigration Law Clinic.

Loaves & Fishes, Charlotte, NC was awarded $50,000 to provide salary and benefits support for a social worker.

Matthews HELP Center, Matthews, NC was awarded $40,000 to provide salary support for the social work team and funds for emergency financial assistance.

Pat's Place Child Advocacy Center,  Charlotte, NC was awarded $55,000 to support the salary and benefits of a Forensic Services Coordinator.

Samaritan House, Inc.,  Charlotte, NC was awarded $40,000 to provide general operating support.

The Salvation Army, Charlotte, NC was awarded $55,000 to provide salary and benefits support to one FTE emergency shelter social worker.

Thrive Asheville , Asheville, NC was awarded $50,000 to support the Landlord-Tenant Partnership Program, specifically, a portion of the salary and benefits of a Tenant Navigator.
